Manifesta 16 Ruhr takes place all over the Ruhr Area with its core cities being Duisburg, Essen, Gelsenkirchen and Bochum. The Manifesta 16+ Programme presents projects by local artists and initiatives in Dortmund, Herne, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Marl, Bottrop, Essen, Bochum, Gelsenkirchen, Duisburg and Oberhausen.

Mondays: closed
Tuesdays: 11.00–18.00
Wednesdays: 11.00–18.00
Thursdays: 11.00–18.00
Fridays: 11.00–19.00
Saturdays: 11.00–19.00
Sundays: 11.00–18.00

Monday the 22nd of June, venues will be exceptionally open from 11.00 to 18.00.

Entrance

Entry to Manifesta 16 Ruhr is free and open to everyone – no ticket needed!  

Getting Around

The churches and venues of Manifesta 16 are at the heart of different neighbourhoods across the Ruhr Area - you can reach them in many ways. Take trams and buses of the local public transportation to make your way through the cities – you will not be bored by the sights offered to you. One tram connection is particularly worth travelling: the 302 runs in between Bochum and Gelsenkirchen and will get you to several of our venues! Our venues are also easily reachable by bike, car and Regional Express Trains (RE/RXX) – find all details below: 

Getting to the Ruhr Area

We strongly encourage our visitors to choose a sustainable mode of transport when visiting the Ruhr Area. As Manifesta 16 Ruhr is spread across several cities, it is advisable to plan your trip in advance.

Guided Walks

Through Guided Walks a diverse team of mediators from the Ruhr Area invite visitors to express their own thoughts, ask questions and encourage them to start conversation with each other. Manifesta 16 Ruhr offers Open Walks for individuals and Group Walks for groups.

Accessibility  

All Manifesta 16 Ruhr venues offer step-free access via ramps. Most of Manifesta 16 Ruhr’s central venues are wheelchair accessible. However, in some church venues certain areas may have limited accessibility due to the historic architecture. Please check the accessibility information on the respective venue’s page.
Assistance dogs are welcome in all our venues.
